Malin in Wonderland

…presenting products that linger between fantasy and reality.

Information about me:

I am a Swedish designer, based in Stockholm. I work with both functional products and unique poetic pieces. My main philosophy when I create something, whether it is for an exhibition or a product, is to mix playfulness, function and decoration. I want the product to both have a soul and to tell a story.

Everything I make becomes a part of my Wonderland world, a world where fantasy becomes reality, a world where environment and products come together to create a completeness, just like on a stage or in a set design.

As children we see the potential in everything around us. Imagination flows and a simple piece of stone can be transformed into anything. As we grow older we stop playing. With my products and my way of thinking I want to introduce playfulness and unexpected experiences into every day life.

In my creative process the concepts and ideas are just as important as the result. I work with different materials and I have created everything from porcelain products for kitchen use to lamps and furniture.

1.“Aeroplane light – floor lamp” – “Aeroplane light” with a mobile base, giving the lamp different expressions.
Material: Altered and varnished sheets of metal.

2. “Aeroplane light” – A pendant fluorescent lamp in the shape of a folded paper aeroplane. The simplicity of the design brings back memories of childhood play. The circuit board becomes a decorative engine on the planes exterior.
Material: Altered and varnished sheets of metal.
Size: Length 47 cm, width 25 cm.

3. "Flower" - A hook in the shape of a flower that can be used to hang clothes, jewellery or whatever you want. Use one or cover an entire wall with them. Combining several hooks creates a beautiful pattern on your wall, resembling a three-dimensional wallpaper where purpose and decoration interplay in a poetic way. The flower forms shadows on the wall emphasizing the three-dimensional expression. Suitable for both private and public surroundings.
